President Greg Benesh called the meeting to order (3:00 pm).  He said the CMC Directory is nearly complete and ready for printing.   R McLeod said he has one additional member to insert (making it 218) before printing.

(As of Mar 1)2025218  paid members 17 new

202421116 new

GB wants to keep the new Directory to 16 total pages and have it ready to hand out for the ‘New Member’ Event 3/19 and to place on the tables for the 1st CMC official event of the Season – “Kick Off Breakfast and Scramble” April 12.   Four of the CMC Board members volunteered to help with the 3/19 New Member event. Greg Benesh confirmed with the Pro Shop tee times for the 3/19 morning play.

Also on March 19th , the CMC will sponsor a Spaghetti Dinner to raise funds for the year-end Charbonneau Cup Tournament.  Gene Harp indicated there are 65 confirmed (Mar 1) for the Dinner.  Another email blast this week should bring in more – Expecting about 85 – 100.   John Meyers, coordinating the food, will be able to accommodate additional diners.

Bill Stout:   CGC Update  Bill said the CGC is very concerned about available parking spots not only for golfers but for all events.  Something needs to be done soon.  Lack of parking spots will reduce course play.  It’s become critical.  Some ideas:  Employee parking off-site, eliminating the center ‘boulevard island and trees’ to make more space, or converting part of old office to a layered parking garage.  Also, new Pro Shop golf carts (28-32) will be delivered later in Mar to the new cart ‘barn’ to be located near #1 Yellow and the Tennis Club.

Groshong:  Invitational Update  Spence says the Invitational is right on schedule.  The jackets for the participants are available to try-on for size in the Pro Shop.  The player application asks that you specify your size.  Spence and Chris are in touch with local merchants and Pro Shop vendors for sponsorship.  It was suggested to ‘hit up’ the 3 new golf cart dealers in our area besides Foursome in Woodburn.

Mike Williams: Treasurer   Mike submitted an updated Balance Sheet and Income Statement ahead of this meeting to all Board members.  Also, he included a final report from our Chili/Chowder fund raiser showing a net profit of $1500.  Mike also told us he has filed the CMC tax forms (2024).

Richard McLeod:  Membership  As reported earlier, the current CMC membership count going into the new season is 218.  WE still have calls to make for some of the players not yet renewing.  This will be done before the Kick OffBreakfast in April.  M Williams said that he and Richard may get asked by a member saying they “overpaid” their yearly dues.  Do they get a refund for the amount overpaid? Richard pointed out to members that their cancelled check is their receipt.  And, it was agreed upon last month that should a member accidently ‘double pay’ his dues, the overage would be a contribution to the Scholarship fund.  A MOTION was made by T Bonino, 2nd by T Tyler that  “Three CMC Board members:  President, VP, and Membership Director would meet to determine if a refund is appropriate for any or each individual case.”  The MOTIONpassed via a voice vote of the Board.  Richard also mentioned that he has interviewed several potential area caterers for upcoming events.  He has decided on Nortons to do the Kick Off Breakfast in April.

G Harp & T Tyler:  Tournaments   Gene and Tim are all set and ready to start the season.  No tweaking of the schedule of events is needed.

Bill Stout:  Scoring  Bill provided a hand-out with some proposed ideas for increasing Pace of Play.  Goal is 3 hrs. + 40 mins or less for 18 holes.  On Men’s Club playing days, the scorecard records the group start time – now we will monitor the finish time of each group, too.  Suggestions were to play ‘ready golf’, wait to tee up on 1st tee box until group ahead is ON the first green, if your group is lagging – putt out quickly and walk to the next tee box.  Bill also said, as an incentive, reward the group with 5 Charbonneau Cup points for finishing under the time target.  The Board is hesitant to reward Cup points, and has discussed in the past that the “A” player (Or the scorer) of the group needs to take responsibility to adhere to pace of play.  Bill will take a moment at the Kick Off Breakfast to mention the need for Pace of play in or under 3 hrs. 40 min.

Tom Vaughn:  9 Hole Group  Tom indicated that there are 31 players active with the 9 Hole Group going into the new season.  Expect we will have some more at the New Member breakfast 3/19.  Tom mentioned a ‘communication’ problem with his group and the Pro Shop and the CMC.  They seem to get ‘left out’ when an unsuspecting Course rotation or a closure is made but not communicated well. GB will check into this with the Pro Shop.

Tim Bonino:  Villager  Tim is BACK!!  Great to have him with us.  He’s done a whale of a job with the column and with all Social Events.  Tim said he’d include more content in the next column on pace of play and recognizing the 9 Hole group schedule.

Mike Brown:  OGA  Mike said there is not an update yet from Gretchen at OGA regarding re-rating our Courses.  Mike stressed that when a member records his own score from play with the CMC events, he should record hole-by-hole and not just a total score.  It’s very easy on a smart phone.  GG doesn’t adjust when just submitting a total score ( 9 or 18).

Benesh said at the next Presidents meeting with other associations, he will get a list of players (women) willing to partner up for Holiday Couples Golf events. The Pro Shop will also have the list.
