CMC Board Meeting – June 2, 2026 MINUTES

Greg Benesh, President began the meeting at 3:02 pm. GB will be working on the annual CMC Budget in the next couple months. It should be ready in August, finalized in September.
Jim Gibbons: CGC Board report
Season is going very well to date with both play and maintenance. Projects: 8-10 cart path improvements on the courses in May – spent quite a bit on the new asphalt path patches. C Bensel and pro Shop have heard very positive comments about the new paths and the course conditions. Next focus area is leveling the tee boxes.
JG – mentioned how costly to the Club a ‘shotgun start’ to an event is – like the Memorial Day Couples. That event had 86 players and took nearly 5 hours. The ‘idea’ of a shotgun start is to have all the players finish about the same time – JG – this doesn’t happen. Discussion on how to speed things up, not tie up the courses began. Best was to have separate tee times, go home after play, re-convene for dinner.
Moving the tee markers should be done each day with the amount of play our course receives.
Question came up about the on-course Restrooms. Are they available to contractors, resident walkers, landscapers? Yes. The CGC employs a cleaning service. We all have noticed often times they are pretty messy.
Jay Robinson: Membership Jay reported that as of June 1 there are 221 CMC members (16 of which are new this season).
Mike Williams: Treasurer Mike, again, sent out to the CMC Board ahead of this meeting the current (May 31) Income Statement and Balance Sheet. In addition, Mike compiled the results of the May MNO and the Memorial Day Couples financial results. His work showed that in both Events, we came out positive! The MNO +$122, the Couples +$104.
Larry Stuber & Michael Roy: Social Events Larry and Michael reported very positive feedback from both May events regarding the catering and food quality!
LS says Butteville Store will cater the July 4th Couples Event with Texas Brisket. MNO on 6/17 will be chicken/mash potatoes, etc. Mention of the food entres will now be on the Event notices sent out.
Pricing for these events: MNO $29 dinner only, $34 dinner and golf (excludes green fees)
July 4th Couples: $39 dinner only, $44 dinner and golf
July MNO will feature – Taco bar
July 4th Couples Event planned for Clubhouse – may move to the Pavillion.

Tom Vaughn: 9 – Hole Group. Tom and Joe Sharpsteen now have 112 players (combined 9 and 18 hole event players) and 55 of those JUST 9 Holes. Growth has been great!
9 Hole plays on MNO prefer to play (9) during the day and come to the dinner in early evening.
The 9 – Hole May Scramble worked out quite well – had 34 players, 8 teams. Players wish to have Scrambles more often. Tom mentioned that the average playing time for his Group has been under 2 hours this season.
Bill Stout: Scoring Bill gave us compiled figures updating the season play. Average round (18 holes) 3:38 hours. Range has been 3:21 to 3:53. Thus far, early season events have 46 – 64 players. Last Wednesday there were 55 players. Spence G mentioned that we still have a minor problem with registered players not showing up, ‘no shows’ – seems to be 4-5 each time. Bill said that ‘flighted’ payouts are working and he has received positive feedback. Asked if this season’s Member/Member event will be ‘flighted’ – answer is no, it is a best-ball tournament.
Spencer Groshong: Scholarships Spence started a discussion about a problem of some players during CMC events not putting out. No gimmes on these Events. Suggestion made that the scorer remind players on the 1st tee box to putt out everything. Picking up before holing out in stroke play calls for the player to be disqualified.
Lloyd Johnson: Website Lloyd said he is extra busy with his work and asked that we help locate a ‘web master’ soon.
This person need not be a CMC member. Lloyd would help train the ‘web master’. Lloyd has created our fine CMC website and now needs someone to monitor it.
Mike Brown: OGA Mike wants to ‘play’ with some new software that would historically review a player’s posted scores. He will report in July how he finds the value of this software and whether it might make sense for CMC.
