Cardroom of the Club house @ 3 pm
Attending: Benesh, Brown, Fieweger, Groshong, Roy, Larson, Stuber, Stout, Williams, Vaughn, Robinson
Absent: L Johnson (Vac)
Guest: Jim Gibbons
President Greg Benesh begins the meeting @ 2:59 pm. GB reminds us of the upcoming Events for May and June.
CMC insurance for 2026-27 needs to be renewed. Second quote should be gathered. Current policy is with State Farm.
Men’s Night Out (MNO) for May 13th (Wed), some difficulty signing up at the pro shop. 30% of CMC members still pay via check. About 45 signed up already.
Jim Gibbons: CGC update Jim and Mike Brown recently attended OGA handicap procedure meeting. Talk about member platform updates – software update, which could include our two women’s associations as well. Shall we have the OGA people speak to our membership? More on this at a later date.
Jay Robinson: Membership – JR reports there are 218 CMC members (as of April 30th). Thirteen ‘new’ members, and 3 added in the last month. M Williams said that in ’25, CMC had 246 total. Still could have additional sign-ups before July.
Mike Williams: Treasurer – MW sent to all CMC board members the May 1, 2026 (1) Income Statement, and (2) Balance Sheet before the start of this meeting – overall, the financial health of the CMC is strong.
Larry Stuber & Michael Roy: Social – LS & MR indicated that all caterers and Events are ‘lined up’ through June. This include the upcoming NMO for May 13th – will use the Pavillion and have Butteville Store as caterer – planning on 80 for the dinner. He will bring his ‘smoker’ – menu will be pulled pork. (140 appears to be the max limit for the Pavillion – considering the current chairs & tables. Can get more into the clubhouse.) Price is $34 for golf and dinner. Advised that we are not to move the Pavillion chairs/tables – that is job of the clubhouse contractor for the event. LS & MR say the Clubhouse will be used May 13th, then the Pavillion (weather permitting) will be the venue for the rest of the summer events. For MNO, 9 Hole CMC members will join the 18 hole foursomes or just come for dinner.
Memorial Day Couples event (5/25) will be Prime rib catered by G Gormet. $44 for golf and dinner.
Don Larson: Tournaments – DL took a random ‘poll’ of how the CMC players liked the new “Flighted” payouts. 90% like the new system! Of course, there are always a few guys against any change.
The Spring Handicap (36 holes) has 43 players – down from normal because it extends to two consecutive Saturdays. Future maybe just one weekend – Sat & Sun.
DL feels signups are down v. 2025. Weather is a factor so far. Will examine more closely at the end of this June.
Bill Stout: Scoring – BS produced two new handouts of the 9 events since March ’26. The average number of players (per event) is 43, yet as weather improves, last Saturday had 54 players.
There was talk of slow play, and Bill had the time data for the previous events. Seems that a “Shamble” creates slow foursomes, so it may hinge on the type of ‘game’ that day.
MOTION: The CMC Board agreed that Events for the rest of this year will use the “Flighted” payout procedure.
Spencer Groshong – SG no update to report. SG mentioned that GG sending an email (post event) to players to confirm their hole-by-hole scores. I have only seen this once. SG says slow play this Spring could be blamed on the long cut grass around the greens – tough to find a ball on some.
Mike Brown: OGA – MB referred to the meeting he and JG attended on member handicapping. Mike took the OGA test for handicapping and said now we have 5 members on the Handicap Committee. He will release a message to the membership within the next month.
Tom Vaughn: Nine-Hole Group – TV reports that in the last month the 9 Hole group have posted ‘gross’ scores varying from 33 to 68. There is a 9 Hole Scramble set for each month – members look forward to it. A ‘point system’ has been established to set up the top finishers for the end year 9 hole Charboneau Cup. TV says average number of players per event (Wed & Fri) is 24-30, and that scores are being posted.
