President Greg Benesh begins the Board Meeting @ 3:00pm in the Cardroom of the Clubhouse.
Greg indicated he had mailed the hole-in-one winners for the season their $160 each on Monday Nov. 3rd. There were 5 aces made this year to split the $800 as reported last month.
Greg welcomed the New CMC Board Members (Robinson, Larson and Stuber). Michael Roy was unable to attend due to travel. The entire CMC Board is anxious to support them with their new Committees.
Lloyd Johnson makes MOTION for Greg Benesh to again be President of the CMC for the next season. MOTION was seconded, and via voice the Board re-elected Benesh as President.
In similar fashion, MOTIONS were made and seconded for the following CMC Board positions:
Vice President: Larry Stuber
Secretary: Joe Fieweger
Treasurer: Mike Williams
These MOTIONS were carried via voice vote.
Greg Benesh assigned the 2026 Committee Chairmen:
Tournaments: Don Larson (with Michael Roy)
9 Hole Members: Tom Vaughn
Social: Larry Stuber (with Michael Roy)
Membership: Jay Robinson (with Mike Williams)
Rules, Handicap & Greens Maint: Mike Brown (with Michael Roy, Jim Gibbons and Jay Robinson – Handicap)
Scholarship: Spencer Groshong (with Tim Bonino)
CMC Website: Lloyd Johnson
USGA Education: Jim Gibbons
Scoring/Posting: Bill Stout
CMC Email Notices: Lloyd Johnson (with Tom Taylor)
Important to note – Other than the Committee Chairmen, Committee members need not be members of the CMC Board, but must be members of CMC.
Chris Bensel (Charbonneau Golf Course PGA Pro and GM) Addressed the Board sighting maintenance work and needs during the Winter and Spring.
Bensel: New signs on pro shop carts – path restrictions, stay in middle of fairway, don’t leave the path at the tee boxes. Will use ropes and signs to divert carts from sensitive fairway and green areas to avoid massive worn sections.
No 5-somes allowed (and should be reported)
Red Course undergoes major drainage work, tee boxes will vary with construction needs. Holes on Red may be shortened. Bunkers will be reshaped for drainage.
Full-Length of Miley Road will be under construction for sewer lines causing major slowdowns and likely one-lane traffic. A 4- way stop likely will be set up at the intersection of Miley/Airport Rd.
Course Green Fees will increase next season to $47 on weekends and Holidays for 2026.
Notices of these maintenance changes will be posted to the membership.
Greg Benesh – Greg mentioned that this is the 50 year anniversary of the Charbonneau golf course. (That would be the Red Couse which was the 1st to be built) No one on the current CMC Board was around or playing here in 1975. The 50th anniversary might be a good “theme” for next season’s social events.
Our CMC Board Meeting in December (12/2) will have PIZZA!
The Chili & Chowder Feed to benefit the Scholarship fund will be Jan 14.
Jim Gibbons: CGC updates – Jim said that Chris Bensel essentially just mentioned all he had planned to say. The golf course is doing well financially and hopes to maintain the current employees. The CGC was very pleased with our emphasis on Pace-of-Play in 2025. Thanks to the CMC and to Bill Stout.
Mike Williams: Treasurer – Mike provided the CMC Board with a current Income Statement and Balance Sheet prior to this meeting. The 10/31/25 statements show we are in “good shape”.
Spencer Groshong: VP – Spence said the Charbonneau Cup last month with very well done and appreciated by all players.
G Benesh added that we need to avoid any financial mishaps with a big event like this one (The C Cup). Solution on how the $ is handled – all donations go directly to Mike Williams then to the CMC account; and all receipts are needed and must be recorded.
Spence plans to send out the CMC questionnaire to all members in December. He will send the framework of the questionnaire to the Board 1st asking for input.
Bill Stout: Scoring/Posting Bill updated his recent Pace-of-Play analysis to include 45 golf event this year (valuable information). He has an idea to send a memo to every “A” player we have in CMC (“A” player is less than 14 handicap), it will be their responsibility to ‘move’ the foursome along keeping up with the group ahead. Bill plans a “scoring” update seminar likely in March to review the latest GG options. Bill said Tom Stell had an interest to join the Scoring Committee.
G Benesh Adjourns the Meeting @ 3:55 pm
Next CMC Board Meeting is December 2, Tuesday
