My wife and I moved to Charbonneau in 2018 after living and working in Corvallis for 35 years, and we have found this a wonderful place to be. Barb and I have been married 45 years and have three married sons and and six grandkids.
I grew up in Bellevue, Washington and graduated from the University of Washington in 1974. I received my law degree from the University of Oregon in 1978 and practiced law in Corvallis until my retirement at the end of 2022. My practice focused on criminal, domestic, and personal injury cases. I was a member of the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association (OTLA) for 40 years, serving on their board of directors for nine years. I was a member of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML) for 25 years and served as president of the Oregon chapter for four years and as a national board member for three.
While living in Corvallis I had the opportunity to serve on the board of directors for the Albany YMCA for nine years and as president for three, chairing their capital campaign. I was privileged to serve on the Corvallis School Board for 12 years, served twice as president and twice as head of the Board’s contract negotiation team.
Barb and I were members of the Corvallis First Presbyterian Church for many years. I chaired the two-phase capital campaign to enlarge, renovate and retrofit our historic sanctuary and buildings for earthquake preparedness. As Barb was a member of the Chancel Choir, we had the opportunity to travel to Europe with the choir six times. One highlight was performing with the Moscow Symphony and State Choir on Russian national television in 1991.
I first played golf at age 35 and bought my first set of clubs at 40. Since retiring I have gone from playing 12 times a year to around 12 times a month. Being a member of the CMC has been a great way to meet people and to play regularly, I look forward to helping create that opportunity for others.
