Charbonneau Men’s Club (CMC) Board Meeting
Tuesday, October 7, 2025
Attending: Benesh, Brown, Bonino, Fieweger, Johnson, McLeod, Vaughn and Williams
Absent: Groshong, Harp, Stout and Tyler
Invited Guest: Jim Gibbons
Greg Benesh, President: Greg begins the meeting @ 3:00 pm. The CMC Business Breakfast and scramble will be Saturday, Oct 18th starting at 7am. Norton’s will cater the event. Greg will compose a report to the membership for this event. We will check with Gene Harp about alcohol being served for the breakfast.
The “new” CMC Board will be invited and present for our meeting on Tuesday, November 4th.
Jim Gibbons: Stated that the recent “Charbonneau Cup” Year End Event and the Awards Luncheon (handled by Gene Harp) were very enjoyable and well planned. It was done in a first class manner. All attending seemed to have a great time.
This Winter (The Grounds/Maintenance crews) will focus on realigning and leveling the tee boxes, as many as possible. The practice pitching area mounds will be leveled, too.
Richard McLeod: Membership/Social – McLeod reports the CMC is holding steady at 250 members. During the recent Charbonneau Community Welcome Fair, our table had several (4-7) new residents asking about the CMC, membership fee, 9 hole option and play dates of the week.
The last Men’s Night Out (MNO) in September had a large turnout and the meal was catered by Norton’s with an “Octoberfest” theme. All seemed to enjoy it.
Mike Williams: Treasurer – Mike provided all board members with the latest financials before this meeting (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, and recent CMC event financials – Labor Day Couples, MNO Sept, and Charbonneau Cup) all updated to September 30th. A current positive balance of nearly $5k will be offset by bills for the upcoming 10/18 Breakfast and a Scholarship check.
Tom Vaughn: 9 Hole Group – Tom has continued to ‘grow’ the 9 Hole Group from about 8 players weekly (3-4 years ago) to now averaging 28-34. He and Joe Sharpsteen have implemented GG for pairing as well as introducing popular monthly 9 Hole scrambles.
Greg Benesh points out that 40% of all CMC members are interested in 9 Hole play. Tom says that 75% of 9 Hole Group participate in play each week. Tom and Greg are looking to have a ‘point system’ for the 9 Hole Group similar to that of the 18 Holers – thereby creating a “Charbonneau Cup” yearend event for the Group. Perhaps, it could be played on the same day as the Charbonneau Cup in 2026.
Bill Stout: Scoring – Bill submitted an updated ‘Pace of Play’ for each CMC event. These have been very helpful for us and for the Pro Shop management. Bill contribution of signs at Par 4 holes tee boxes seem to have helped with “Pace”.
Lloyd Johnson: Website – Lloyd will re-examine the current website the winter to search for improvements. The season, 2025, the website has been wonderful and informative.
Greg Benesh mentioned there have been Three (3) NEW Holes-in One for the CMC. The Players are: Don Mason, Tim Tyler, and Gene Harp. Ironically, all three were scored on Hole # 7 Red – the dreaded ‘water’ hole. That makes a total of 5 Hole-in-Ones for the season, so far.
Mike Brown: OGA – Mike said that GG has a new feature that allows the manager to look at an individual’s score posting patterns. It has the ability to see whether any scores posted have been manipulated. When this program is ‘run’ for an individual, the manager has just 14 days to ‘act’ on it before the information goes away. Mike has a month end meeting with the PGC to learn more about this and how often is feasible to use it. He will report to this Board at the November meeting.
Greg Benesh: President – He said there hasn’t been an association President’s Meeting lately and he doubts there will be many scheduled often next season.
Greg read the BIO’s of the four (4) new Board members planning to join us in November. All 4 BIO’s were quite interesting!
The new Board Members are: Jay Robinson, Don Larson, Larry Stuber and Michael Roy
This is the last CMC Board Meeting for Tim Bonino, Richard McLeod, Gene Harp and Tim Tyler. We greatly appreciate the effort and skills they brought to the Board. They will certainly be missed.
Greg Benesh adjourns the meeting at 4:00 pm
