Excused Absent: T Bonino, R McLeod
Invited Guest: T Taylor
President G Benesh called meeting to order at 2:58 pm
G Benesh – The CMC Breakfast – October 19th Saturday. G Harp will be in
Canada, unable to bartend, will get someone from C Bensel staff (Kaitlyn or Lindy)
to handle it. Will announce the player awards (possibly by T Tyler) from the
Tournament committee. M Williams will give a brief financial update. Breakfast
will be served at 7 am (Market Café staff), announcements follow the food.
S Groshong – Invitational ’25 – SG is creating a survey questionnaire to send to
the membership hopefully before the breakfast (10/19) to include likes and
dislikes including and beyond the Invitational. T Vaughn added that some of the
questions must include the 9-hole CMC group. Board discussed merits of
member/guest and or member/member, shall we keep the same early August
dates, and importantly, shall the format be changed to (no practice round) two 18
-hole rounds.
R McLeod – Membership Update – Currently 242 members, Same level as pre-
Covid. 80 participated in last Men’s Night Out (MNO). The pace of play for the
Scramble was surprisingly fast. A Pace we should plan on in the future. Buster’s
BBQ was a big hit, again. And their servers were ready for the meal ahead of
schedule.
T Vaughn – Membership 9-hole group – Tom said he and Joe S have paired 24-28
players each Wednesday and Friday. There are 32 total members. However,
there are 85 CMC members who signed up for notices of both 9 & 18. Tom added
that 21 (9-hole players) attended his indoor seminar on pairing and posting 9-hole
scores.
M Williams – Financials – Mike provided (ahead of this meeting date) updated
Income Statement, Balance Sheet, as well as, a 2025 CMC Budget. With the
increase ($80 to $100) for membership paid before year end, the CMC Budget
looks to nearly break even (- $313) for the next season. Our next season fees will
be $100 and $120 (paid after Dec. 31). MOTION introduced ‘to adopt the ’25
Budget’ by L Johnson, seconded by M Brown; MOTION carried by voice vote.
G Harp & T Tyler – Tournaments – Charbonneau Cup (32 players) overall was a
very positive event. Next year for the Cup: G Harp said possible to increase the
field to 36, regular buffet luncheon, and include ‘KPs’ on some holes. Perhaps
have the winter Chilli Feed be a fund raiser for the C Cup.
Plan to create the ’25 event schedule in November, will be sensitive to the
feedback from the survey. Discussed the “Idea” to establish an award given to a
CMC member who takes part in the most scheduled events – ‘ironman award’ so
to speak. T Vaughn added that the 9-hole group would be interested in a version
of the C Cup. Makes sense. The committee in their upcoming meeting will also
establish point values for participating and for winning events in ’25.
We can’t make CMC members pay only by credit card and thru the website.
L Johnson said the sign ups and payment for future events can be made with a cc
and through the website – except for the CMC sponsored holiday Couples events.
We will also be able to check (in the website) points earned to date, and $ earned
to date. Alert the CMC members at the Breakfast (10/19) that if you still have $ in
your account with the Pro Shop, use it by 12/31 or lose it.
G Benesh – Publicity – Greg will write the Villager column this month with T
Bonino on his European Vacation.
M Brown – OGA (and this month – Course Maintenance) – Mike will attend an
OGA meeting this month – report in November. C Bensel will spend $80k for new
sand for Yellow Course traps, and overall nearly $400k for redoing bunker
drainage, sand, and hydra-seeding. Mid- March thru Mid-April, maintenance will
aerate the greens. Pro shop will be getting 25 more golf carts for next year, and
planning a ‘cart barn’ near the current Pavilion.
Mike said with minimum of a one week notice to C Bensel or K Howe in the pro
shop, we can play some area public courses for $25 plus a cart. The Board had a
brief discussion of “bad behavior” reported by many residents of the young
players who take advantage of the generous ‘twilight’ play package after 4 pm in
the summer. We either need to raise the price and/or have a course ‘marshall-or-
starter’ to minimize complaints. Don’t know what the CMC can do on this one –
we are a public course.
President G Benesh Adjourns the meeting at 4:06 pm
Next CMC Board Meeting is November 5th
