CMC New Member Coffee/Pastries – March 13, Wednesday 8 am
Several Board Members plan to attend. R MacLeod reports as of March 1 there are 211 current CMC members for 2024. This includes 16 new or first time members. 2 of the new members (from Canby) are in their 80s and have neither an email address nor a cell phone. They prefer to play in the 9 hole group. The issue will be their handicaps, unless they find a way (or a person) to enter their scores.
GBenesh and TTaylor will put together the 2024 CMC member Directory to have it ready for April 6th Membership kickoff Breakfast (7 am). If using the Wilsonville Office Depot for the print job, present our Charbonneau Chamber of Commerce # to receive a substantial discount. The April 6th Event plan is to serve breakfast right away (7 am), program to follow. G Harp offered to bartend for the morning beverages, and will have assistance from the Board members.
MBrown and GBenesh will work with Jim Gibbons on a separate date in April or early May for a Rules of Golf Seminar available to all members.
VP Report – SGroshong is ill. Did not attend this meeting
RMacLeod and LJohnson regarding Membership and the new CMC website indicated that a Demo in the Dining Room at the April 6th Breakfast Event would show the all members how to access the new CMC website cmcgpolf.org for responding to sign-ups, calendar of events, photos, event results, etc. It was mentioned by TBonino that we, like the Niners & CWGA, should consider a “Big Brother” program having either a Board member or current member in good standing act as a mentor (phone contact, occasional playing partner) with the ‘new’ 16 CMC members we will have this year. The idea was well received by the Board members.
MWilliams, Treasurer, presented both a Balance sheet and P& L statement prior to this meeting. Essentially showing the CMC is in solid shape financially. Mike wondered whether we, CMC, need to hold a reserve account. Mike mentioned difficulty in accessing our bank electronically. Mike and LJohnson will make a future site visit to the bank.
GHarp & TTyler Tournament Committee have the 2024 season of Events completed and now posted on the new CMC website cmcgolf.org
BStout Scoring Committee mentioned that the 2024 CMC sign-ups for any and all events will take the first 72 players accepting the email invitation as a maximum for play on Men’s days. The ‘73rd’ player to sign-up will be wait listed on GGenius for the event. (Most likely be able to enter do to no-shows) Also, there will be no payout “ties” this season (2024). Instead, should there be a player or a team ‘tie’ the winning place (and payout) will be determined by a “card off”. Pace of play for all the CMC tournaments and events was discussed. The “A” player in each foursome whether team game or individual game, will be responsible for keeping his group moving to the pace play suggested by the pro shop. GHarp suggested a reminder of pace of play be noted on the scorecards, as well.
RMacLeod Social The March 13 new member event is set with coffee and pastries. Also, set with Nicole (Market place) is the April 6th Breakfast, the May 1st Men’s Night Out – taco theme, and the Memorial Day Couples Dinner. Best contact: Market place is Nicole, then Myra or Chris.
LJohnson Website We, CMC, now have a “Square” account which means we can take credit cards (besides checks). Lloyd stated that we will not be ‘storing’ credit card information, will treat all customer transactions as a one-time guest. To start the 2024 season, the Square will be used for Men’s Night Out, and Couples Events. It will not be used for game entry ($5 or $10 fee). Those will still be cash and collected by the pro shop.
Lloyd will direct all future searches of the ‘old’ website (Charbonneau mens club) to the new page (cmcgolf.org). He will also add a tutorial under the current President’s Message on the website. This will aid new and old members on using the site. The Demo on April 6th at the Breakfast will show this.
TBonino and RSwanson Publicity The Villager articles have been excellent. We appreciate their work. Note that any pictures or information to be entered into the CMC Villager column must be in the hands of Tim and Ron before the 9th of the month.
JFieweger Updated ByLaws Joe will send to each Board member the Updated CMC 2024 ByLaws to their review. The last update of our ByLaws was 2018. Until the end of March 2024, all edits from existing CMC Board members will be considered. Then the updated ByLaws will be PDF’d and posted on the new CMC website as well as a hard copy in the Secretary binder.
GBenesh New Business Greg will meet with the other (two) Charbonneau golf associations (CWGA and Niners) on March 15 for event planning.
