CMC Board Meeting – June 4 th , 3 pm MINUTES
Card Room of Clubhouse
Attending: Benesh, Brown, Bonino, Fieweger, Groshong, Johnson, McLeod, Stout,
Tyler and Williams. Harp excused.
Guests: Perry Esterson
Greg Benesh, President, called the meeting to order @ 2:58 pm in the Card Room.
First order of business, Update on the Invitational (Aug 1, 2). S Groshong said
Chris Bensel is working with several potential Sponsors. There are 11 teams (2
man) signed up to date. Last day to register in July 1. CB needs nothing from the
CMC at this point. CB has met with and ‘lined up’ the CWGA for help with all
aspects of the Invitational.
Perry Esterson provides update on course maintenance: Our new Supt: Andrew
Conner has hired a new mechanic: Bill Cannon. Private carts will no longer
receive annual tune up service (as in the past with Richie). Green Course projects
well underway: main drain lines, done; lateral drain lines, started, Bunkers being
re-built and tee boxes being expanded – completed in July. Hydroseeding will be
done in the Fall. Tree removal (2): Green 2 left bunker, Green 8 Fir left of Tee
box. All the dirt will be used to level Green tee boxes. Also, a new golf cart shed
will be across from the new tennis facility.
Richard McLeod said current CMC membership is now 237. (that’s 4 over last
year) Memorial Day Couples Event recap (trial having 3.5 foursomes playing 9
holes – ending at same time as 18 holers). Event success – 116 participants! Pace
of play was 3.5 hours for 18 – reasonable.
4 th of July Couples Event – will include both 9 & 18 hole foursomes. GB will alert
both Niners and CWGA of our plans to streamline the event and dinner.
Discussion about having a 9 hole scramble during the Men’s Night out in July is
yet to be decided.
Nicole has announced she is no longer with Charbonneau. Maira will head up the
Market Café, and be our lead contact.
R Mc provide an Exel of the 2025 season schedule to the Board. Looks good. Will
move the Spring Kick Off Breakfast up a week from 4/12 to 4/5. GB concurs.
Tim Bonino suggested a ladies/mens scramble using random picks (not with your
Spouse) for the Fall.
Mike Williams submitted the financials ahead of the meeting. Essentially a
current balance of $29, 000 +, yet still have to pay for the Memorial Day Couples
Event. Chili & Chowder event cleared over $700 which is for the Scholarship
program. Our current CMC liability insurance is $1 MM total coverage, MW says
this is likely not enough. Will alert us as policies come due.
Bill Stout has been happy with the Scoring Committee this season. BS lays out a
schedule and committee members fill it each month – good support from Bill. GB
mentioned that no tournament for CMC can be just gross scores, must include net
scores posted. The Stableford TEAM event was very well received.
Lloyd Johnson says taking credit card payment for the Memorial Day Event was
successful. L J worked closely with Kaitlyn in the pro shop, but payments need to
be referred to the CMC. CMC is used as the ‘product’ is the charge. L J going to
Italy late June – 3 weeks, will have all flyers and invites set up. Essential to having
members use the sign up for events when a credit card is used.
Tim Bonino said we need more pictures before/during/after events to post in the
Villager and our website. Send them to Tim or to Lloyd. GB will write a season
ending summary column in the Fall for the Villager. Also, don’t hesitate to send
story ideas for the column.
Mike Brown mentioned Jim Gibbons and Lloyd J will collaborate on 5 (initial)
short golf rules videos for posting on our CMC website.
Old Business:
GB we are still looking for another Board member from our membership.
Should have some tech & writing skills. Paul Lewis? We need another Board
member from the 9 hole group. Tom Vaughn? Collectively, we should invite both
to the next Board meeting in July.
GB said he met with other association presidents on 5/24. They were
agreeable for an optional 9 hole scramble for 4 th of July Couples Event.
Bill Stout mentioned that CBensel will be taking the Wilsonville HS Girls
golf team to a national competition in Frisco, TX. A MOTION was made for CMC
to provide $500 to help with the costs of the summer trip. The MOTION was
seconded by Tim Bonino. The Board voted (voice) unanimously to carry the
MOTION.
GB adjourned the meeting @ 4:33pm
