CMC BOARD MEETING December 5, 2023 MINUTES DRAFT
President Greg Benesh called the meeting to order @ 3:04 pm
Attending: Benesh, Groshong, Fieweger, Williams, Bonino, Brown, McLeod, Stout,
Swanson, and Johnson. Missing: Tyler, Harp
New Officers report filed with Oregon Registry of Corporations – Williams
Updated Administrative scheduled milestones and membership listing for
renewals and new golfers will be posted on the website.
Discussion: updating the CMC handout booklet for 2024 (which has membership
contact info and season scheduled events). Many still want the hard copy booklet
for reference, board leaning to publish to the website which will include player
pictures. Rich M will provide updates for new 2024 booklets printed for handout
at the initial welcome breakfast. Rich noted that he will need help with this after
Jan 28, as he plans to travel South. CMC board members will step in.
Tim B is updating all aspects of the Scholarship Fund – will be presented on the
website. This year – 3 winners (identified in last month’s minutes). Chris Bensel
told Tim that the Pro shop will donate $1000 for the Fund for next season’s
winners. Tim B & Rich M have planned with Nicole to have a winter “CHILLI
FEED” event in the Clubhouse in January ’24. Notices will come out shortly.
Price will be $20/plate. Checks made out to CMC. The Event will opened to
Charbonneau Residents, guests and friends. Tim B said the CWGA and the Niners
will help with the set up and take down (clean up).
Rich M reports that we have 103 registrations/renewals for the ’24 season (12/1).
He suggested another message go out the CMC membership as a reminder to get
dues in ($80) before 12/31 in order to save $20. Two brand new members
reported so far.
Tim B and Ron Swanson collaborated on the CMC Villager column for the Dec
issue. All agree it was very well done. Tim and Ron will look to include pictures (if
possible) and a touch of historic CMC personalities.
GUEST Perry Esterson (Golf Course Maintenance plans) Red Course is opened
again since it’s winter closing 11/1 – due to exceptional weather and high demand
for tee times. Fortunately, a general message from CCC has been sent to the
residents to let know “Red” will be closed for walking, jogging, and dogs on Friday
thru Sunday. Grounds crew will start with sanding and top dressing this month
on all Courses.
Mike W (Treasurer) reported that he successfully got into the CMC Accounting
System and said the current (12/1) account balance is $24,000. Next bills to pay
will be OGA , and the Staff Christmas awards ($1000).
Rich M (Social) – Rich reports that he and Nicole have been in conversations
about ’24 events. The meals (both cost and type) will be similar to ’23. He will let
us know if/when Nicole has information regarding changes in meal costs. Rich
presented a Social meal/event exel plan at the Nov CMC board meeting.
Bill S (Tournaments) Bill reports the Tournament Committee has been quite
active. Gene Harp and Tim Tyler have not only set up the ’24 season calendar, but
also made very productive & positive changes to several of the events. Will
eliminate Match Play and the Guest Day. There have been changes to
Scramble/Shamble conditions if only 3 players, payouts, budgets for Charbonneau
Cup, Trophies, handicap spreads, and posting results. These will be revealed with
the ‘final’ 2024 Calendar update by end of January.
Greg B (Intra Club Cooperation) Greg said he will meet with Dec 6. Tim B
suggested ‘intra club’ competition/events (not just the existing Couples events).
Spence G (Invitational). Spence reported that the initial Invitational planning
meeting with Chris B and the CWGA went very well. Chris’ vision of the 2024
Invitational includes several positive changes. (Too many to mention!). The
highlights are there will be major Sponsors, Swag will include a new Wedge and a
dozen balls, the CCC will provide cart beverages, prize money increasing to $7000,
projected cost may be $275/player.
Lloyd J (Website consulting) Lloyd expected to show us the initial changes made
to the CMC website – but the monitor in the card room was broken. However, we
were all able to follow his presentation on out phones. Lloyd said we need to get
back to ‘customer facing’. There is a need to start over instead of trying to patch
it. The new structure for the website is attractive and looks easy to use. The
existing one in primarily a document storage bin. The new link is cmcgolf.org
This will make it easy to sign up for events, pay dues and fees, see results and
contact members. We all would create an account on this new site. Lloyd said
we need new ideas for this website. Example, use drones to feature each hole,
add current pictures & videos. He suggested that we go to the upgraded Golf
Genius in the future. Today we are using two data bases (old website and GG),
only need one. Lloyd will recommend to Chris that we go to “Square” to allow
Credit card payments – no need to write a check for every event and fee. Lloyd
showed us the many possibilities this new site could offer.
Pizza was served at 4 pm!! The menu was great and delivered to the card room
from the Market Café.
Term limits for CMC Board Members are 3 years (seasons)
Tim B (Re: Nominating Committee) Always looking for potential new CMC board
members. The current committee will be headed by Greg B. On the committee
will be Tim B and Joe F.
Meeting Adjourned @ 4:53pm
